How the math works
One fixed number: 100,000,000
Every bitcoin divides into exactly 100,000,000 sats (short for “satoshis,” after bitcoin's creator). Unlike the dollar price, this never changes — it's built into bitcoin itself, the way a dollar is always 100 cents.
BTC = sats ÷ 100,000,000 · sats = BTC × 100,000,000
The decimal-point trick
To convert sats to BTC in your head, just move the decimal point eight places to the left. 1,000 sats becomes 0.00001000 BTC. Going the other way, move it eight places right — 0.5 BTC is 50,000,000 sats.
Why two units for the same money?
Because most people deal in small amounts, and small amounts look awkward as decimals. “I earned 0.00001 BTC” and “I earned 1,000 sats” are the same thing — the second is just easier to say, read, and compare. Everything on EarnBitcoin.co earns and pays in sats.
